Abstract
The purpose of this research was to calculate the outcome of the Social Progress Index of the district of Pariñas, province of Talara and department of Piura, for the period 2022. And, more specifically, to calculate the index of basic needs, welfare foundations and opportunities, for the district of Pariñas for the year 2022; for which the methodology proposed by the Social Progress Imperative was used. This is a quantitative type of research, in which field research, of exploratory and descriptive type, is developed. From a total population of 24,206 homes and 98,309 inhabitants, a sample of 378 heads of household was selected; however, the field work was extended to 406 surveys applied in four areas of the district. In Pariñas, the social issue is relevant and merits constant research; this is the second one carried out in the district. It was found that Pariñas remained in the lower middle level of the SPI with 58.32 points, suffering a decrease of 0.38 points between the two surveys. This pattern is repeated in the three dimensions because it maintains the level of the previous survey and suffers small upward or downward variations with respect to its predecessor. In basic needs, the results are located at the medium-low level, with 57.77 points and a decrease of 2.77 points with respect to the previous survey; in foundations of well-being, at a low level with 50.50 and an increase of 0.17 points; and in opportunities, at a medium-high level with 66.60 points and an increase of 1.46 points. It is necessary that the authorities, private enterprise, and civil society become involved in the social development of the province of Pariñas, given that throughout the investigation it was found that, in general, Pariñas does not suffer a significant, constant and positive variation, but rather that the results fluctuate between increase and decrease.
