Children's mental health has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with significant increases in anxiety, irritability, and stress among children in Lima Metropolitana. Social isolation has caused these issues, highlighting the need for interventions to address this problem. The proposed solution is animal-assisted therapy, an innovative alternative that allows interaction with animals, primarily dogs and cats, during psychotherapy sessions. Scientific evidence shows that this therapy is effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety, stress, and other conditions and is widely promoted in the United States and several European countries. Additionally, technology is integrated through a platform or application to monitor patient progress. The service is designed to generate financial margins that enable the provision of free psychological therapy to children living in poverty, thereby democratizing mental health care. Interaction with animals improves children's social skills and boosts their self-esteem. The animals participating in therapy will come from shelters and will be trained to become assistance animals, with the goal of encouraging their adoption through the connection they build with their patients. The implementation of this program has the potential to transform the way children's mental health is addressed, offering a complementary therapeutic alternative that enhances children's emotional well-being. With adequate support, these programs can be replicated in other regions, contributing to the healthy development of future generations.
