Factores psicosociales relacionados a accidentes laborales en el contexto de la minería peruana

Abstract
El presente estudio plantea como objetivo identificar los principales factores relacionados a la incidencia de accidentes laborales e investigar la relación entre los factores señalados en la literatura – (a) la jornada y horario, (b) la fatiga, (c) el clima de seguridad, (d) el desempeño de seguridad o (e) el estrés – con los accidentes sufridos por los trabajadores en una empresa del rubro minero en el Perú. Para ello se trabajó bajo un modelo cualitativo de estudio de caso. Se realizaron entrevistas estructuradas –con alternativas de respuesta abierta– a trabajadores, de la empresa objeto de estudio, que sufrieron accidentes graves o incapacitantes entre los años 2012-2013. En este trabajo se encontraron coincidencias con 3 de los factores señalados en la literatura - jornada de trabajo, fatiga y desempeño de seguridad- y aporta 2 factores adicionales - presión del jefe/supervisor por terminar la tarea y ambigüedad en la comunicación-. Los resultados evidencian que los accidentes no se deben a un factor aleatorio, muy por el contrario, son la consecuencia de una suma de factores que pueden ser medidos y controlados. Este sentido, se sugiere que una efectiva prevención de accidentes debe considerar la interrelación de diversos factores, principalmente: (a) no cumplir con el procedimiento (b) la presión de los jefes, (c), la ambigüedad de la comunicación.
The aim of this study is to identify factors related to accidents occurrence and to investigate the relationship between the factors mentioned in the literature - (a) shift and shift schedules, (b) fatigue, (c) safety climate (d) safety performance (e) stress - and accidents involving employees of a company in the mining sector in Peru. This work was done under a qualitative case study model. Structured interviews were applied to workers from the company object of study, who suffered severe or disabling accidents between the years 2012-2013. This study has proven 3 of the factors identified by the literature - working hours, fatigue and safety performance – and adds two factors - pressure from the supervisor to finish the task and ambiguous communication. The results suggest that accidents are not a random factor, on the contrary, they are a consequence of a combination of factors that can be measured and controlled. Here, it is suggested that an effective accident prevention should consider the interface of various factors, mainly: (a) failure to comply with the procedure (b) pressure from the supervisors, (c), the ambiguity of communication.
