Abstract
This research aims to explore the sensitivity in mother-child relationship and third attachment figure-child relationship in preschoolers from districts of Metropolitan Lima. For this purpose, 15 mothers aged between 34 and 42 years (M = 37.07, SD = 2.40) and 15 third attachment figures aged between 19 and 69 years (M = 48.60, SD = 17.83) of children between 36 and 70 months (M = 55.67, SD = 12.15), using the Maternal Behavior for Preschooolers Q-Set (Posada, Moreno, & Richmond, 1988 in Posada, et al., 2007) for the measurement of caregivers sensitive behavior. The results showed there is no significant difference in the sensitivity of mothers and third attachment figures, however in an analysis by third attachment figure we found significant difference in sensitivity of mothers and grandmothers. In a descriptive level, caregivers showed an appropriate sensitive behavior. In addition, we aimed to identify characteristics of sensitivity by sex of the child. A significant difference was found in global sensitivity and Contribution to harmonious interactions and Supervision scales in third attachment figures, with higher scores for girls than boys.
