Abstract
This research has identified the factors that have contributed to the sustainability of business initiatives of young participating in the Jóvenes Pilas project in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho (2007-2009). The content development about personal entrepreneurial skills and the use of participatory methodologies –coupled with an entrepreneur attitudinal profile and an appropriate market orientation– enhance the sustainability of an enterprise at any scale, since forged an entrepreneurial attitude. Entrepreneurs involved in it have justified improvements in their person, business and environment due to the project. The findings add new contributions to configure a state policy for young entrepreneurs and MSE, which should promote as a priority the joint business that contributes to sustainability; it would require an inclusive approach to serve the MSE and the new youth entrepreneurship. It‘s necessary to accelerate the creation of the state policy. For youth self-employment programs and projects in progress, the recommendations propose adjustments that take into account anticipated strategies to better support to the youth business initiatives. These interventions must aim to strengthen the young entrepreneurs‘ attitude.
