participaron 120 personas (M = 21.37 años, DE = 1.74), 95 mujeres (79.2%) y 19 hombres (15.8%), 61
RWA y prejuicio sexual manifiesto.
personas heterosexuales y no heterosexuales.
The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between parasocial relationships with nonheterosexual media personae on social media, sexual prejudice and RWA in heterosexual and nonheterosexual users from Metropolitan Lima aged 18 to 25. 120 people participated (M = 21.37 years, SD = 1.74), 95 women (79.2%) and 19 men (15.8%), 61 non-heterosexuals (50.8%) and 59 heterosexuals (49.2%), all follow a non-heterosexual content creator through social media. The Parasocial Relationship Scale, the Subtle and Overt Sexual Prejudice Scale and the Right-wing Authoritarianism Scale (RWA) were used. Evidence was found that RWA significantly predicts both types of sexual prejudice, that the friendship dimension of parasocial relationship can predict a diminished overt sexual prejudice and that it has a mediating effect in the relationship between RWA and overt sexual prejudice. In addition, there were significant differences in parasocial relationship intensity, its identification dimension, overt sexual prejudice and RWA between heterosexual and nonheterosexual people. It is concluded that, while authoritarian tendencies can lead to rejection of nonheterosexual people, the intimacy experienced in parasocial relationships with non-heterosexual characters through social media opposes the rejection of intimate contact with this population thanks to the reevaluation of prejudiced beliefs and parasocial intergroup contact. The theory, limitations and contributions of this study, new lines of research and recommendations for future research are discussed.
