Desborde: la subversión del cuerpo femenino desde la práctica artística feminista

Abstract

Esta tesis aborda la violencia de género en el Perú desde el lenguaje del arte contemporáneo, a través de una propuesta instalativa y performática centrada en el cuerpo feminizado como espacio de resistencia, memoria y agencia. Desde una perspectiva crítica y situada, el trabajo articula un marco teórico, el análisis de referentes del arte feminista y el desarrollo de un proyecto de creación visual titulado Desborde. En el primer capítulo se exploran los conceptos de género y patriarcado en relación con la construcción histórica del rol de la mujer, así como las dinámicas estructurales de violencia machista entre 2015 y 2019. Se revisan casos mediáticos de feminicidio y el rol de los movimientos feministas en la denuncia y acción colectiva. El segundo capítulo analiza prácticas artísticas que, desde el uso del cuerpo y los fluidos, activan estrategias visuales que desafían las narrativas hegemónicas sobre lo femenino y amplifican su dimensión política. Finalmente, el tercer capítulo presenta Desborde, una instalación que emplea pintura roja, un barril metálico y acciones rituales para encarnar el cuerpo atravesado por la violencia y la emancipación. La obra se configura como gesto político que interpela tanto a la artista como al público, revelando el potencial del arte como herramienta de denuncia, elaboración simbólica y transformación social. En conjunto, la tesis plantea que el arte, cuando se origina desde el cuerpo y el contexto, puede activar procesos críticos frente a las violencias que persisten en la vida de las mujeres.

This thesis addresses gender-based violence in Peru through the lens of contemporary art, proposing an installation and performance-based project centered on the feminized body as a space of resistance, memory and agency. From a critical and situated perspective, the study weaves together a theoretical framework, the analysis of feminist art references, and the development of a visual art project titled Desborde. The first chapter explores the concepts of gender and patriarchy in relation to the historical construction of women’s roles, as well as the structural dynamics of machista violence between 2015 and 2019. It examines high-profile femicide cases and the role of feminist movements in public denunciation and collective action. The second chapter analyzes artistic practices that use the body and fluids to activate visual strategies that challenge hegemonic narratives about femininity and amplify its political dimension. The third chapter presents Desborde, an installation that incorporates red paint, a metal barrel and a ritual-based body actions to embody the experience of a body marked by violence and emancipation. The work function as a political gesture that confronts both the artist and the audience, revealing the potential of art as a tool for denunciation, symbolic elaboration and social transformation. Overall, the thesis argues that art, when rooted in the body and its sociocultural context, can trigger critical processes of awareness and resistance against the persistent violences that affect women’s lives.
