Sensibilidad materna ideal de un grupo de mujeres recluidas en un establecimiento penitenciario de Lima

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo describir la sensibilidad materna ideal de un grupo de mujeres recluidas que conviven con sus hijos(as) en un establecimiento penitenciario de Lima. Participaron 19 madres entre 21 y 40 años (M=31.11, DE=5.51), cuyos(as) hijos(as) se encontraban entre los 12 y 36 meses de edad (M=21.58, DE=6.34). Se aplicó el Maternal Behaviour Q-sort (MBQS) en su versión 3.1, en la modalidad de auto-reporte, respondiendo a la consigna “¿Cómo cree usted que debería ser una madre ideal?”. Además, se realizó una entrevista con el fin de indagar en los motivos de elección de las madres sobre las conductas más y menos características de una madre idealmente sensible. Las participantes obtuvieron una correlación de .59 con el puntaje teórico, la cual es menor a la hallada en otras investigaciones realizadas en Perú sobre el ideal de sensibilidad materna. En cuanto a los perfiles, Sensibilidad vs. No Sensibilidad presentó descriptivamente una mayor correlación, a diferencia de los perfiles Poco Conectada y No sincrónica. Las madres reportaron que una madre idealmente sensible posee tres características principales: (1) la felicidad y el cuidado como cualidad inherente a ella; (2) el mostrarse pendiente y prestar atención a su hijo(a) casi permanentemente, para lograr una lectura y repuesta pronta y adecuada a las señales; y (3) el priorizar y otorgar importancia al contacto físico con éste(a). Algunos de estos elementos podrían tener relación con el contexto penitenciario.

This research aims to describe the ideal maternal sensitivity in a group of women confined in prison who live with their child (children) in a prison of Lima. For this purpose 19 mothers between 21 and 40 years old (M = 31.11, SD = 5.51) participated, their children were 12 and 36 months of age (M = 21.58, SD = 6.34). The Maternal Behavior Q-sort (MBQS) was assessed in version 3.1, as a self-report, responding to the slogan “How do you think it should be an ideal mother?” In addition, an interview was conducted in order to investigate the reasons the mothers chose the most and least characteristics behaviors of an ideally sensitive mother. The participants obtained a correlation of .59 with the theoretical score, which is lower than that found in other studies conducted in Peru on the ideal of maternal sensitivity. As soon as the profiles, Sensitivity vs. Insensitivity presented a stronger correlation, unlike Disengaged and Nonsynchronous. Mothers reported that an ideally sensitive mother has three main features: (1) happiness and care as an inherent quality in her; (2) be aware and pay attention to their child, almost permanently, to achieve reading and prompt and adequate response to signals; and (3) to prioritize and give importance to physical contact with her baby. Some of these elements could be related to the prison context.
