Abstract

A qualitative analysis of the use of adjectives in a group of patients with non-fluent aphasia from a hospital center is presented. The targets of the research are to describe the characteristics of adjectives used in language production, to identify the production of adjectives prevailing during the production and to describe the use of adjectives that replaced other grammatical categories. Non experimental descriptive research method was employed. The results were obtained through a selected subtest group from the Boston Naming Test, whose answers were transcribed individually for a better analysis of the production of adjectives. Through this research, it was identified that evaluated non-fluent aphasic patients were able to use adjectives during language production, being the descriptive adjectives the most used. Furthermore, it was found that the replacement of adjectives with other grammar category is not very common in these patients, observing that replace of an adjective for another is more common. The results of this research cannot be generalized nationally, due to the amount of the research group.
