Creencias y experiencias en torno a las violencias contra jugadoras mujeres en videojuegos de tipo MOBA

Abstract
El objetivo del presente estudio fue explorar el modo en el que las jugadoras vivencian
los diferentes tipos de violencia contra ellas en videojuegos MOBA online y explorar las
creencias en torno a esas vivencias. Para ello, se elaboró un estudio cualitativo con un
diseño de análisis temático, en el cual participaron nueves jugadoras peruanas, cuyas
edades oscilan entre 18 a 25 años. Como técnica de recolección de información, se utilizó
la entrevista semiestructurada. Los resultados mostraron que las jugadoras han
experimentado violencia psicológica, acoso sexual, violencia estructural y violencia
simbólica en los videojuegos MOBA que suelen jugar. Ante ello, las jugadoras han
desarrollado una serie de estrategias para hacerle frente a estas violencias. No obstante,
algunas de estas manifestaciones de violencia se encuentran normalizadas a través de las
creencias que ellas poseen en torno a estas experiencias. Las jugadoras reconocen que
mucha de esta normalización se debe al contexto machista en el que se encuentran
insertas. Por último, las participantes reconocen aspectos positivos en su experiencia
jugando como el apoyo entre jugadoras y la creación de un espacio de sanación a través
de sus testimonios.
The goal of this study was to explore the way in which female gamers experience different types of violence against them in online MOBA video games and their beliefs about these experiences. For this purpose, a qualitative study was conducted with a thematic analysis design, in which nine Peruvian female gamers between the ages of 18 and 25 participated. A semi-structured interview was used as the data collection technique. Results showed that female gamers have experienced psychological violence, sexual harassment, structural violence, and symbolic violence in the MOBA video games they usually play. In response, female gamers develop a series of strategies to confront these forms of violence. However, some of these manifestations of violence are normalized through the beliefs they hold about these experiences. Female players recognize that much of this normalization is due to the sexist context in which they are inserted. Finally, participants recognize positive aspects of their experience playing, such as the support among female players and the creation of a space for healing through their testimonies.
