Abstract
The decline of worldwide birthrate, the increasing of mothers over 35 years old, and the decision of not being mothers from a female population sector are events that occur especially in groups of women with higher education. That is why this research about the motherhood postponement in women living in Lima was based on professional population. To understand these women reasons, the problem took three axes. Professional women life project, their concepts on relationships, and their ideas about motherhood. Professional women life project seeks to know what activities spend their time and what are their future prospects. The second axe show what is the position of men in women emotional satisfaction, housework and their relevance in reproduction and parenting. Motherhood, the heart of this research, shows about the professional women ideas of motherhood, what position they have about these ideas, how they respond or not to social pressure to be mother, and their life proposals. In addition to the literature review, this research is supported on twentysix women interviews, all them from different professional areas, ranging between 28 to 38 years old who were not mothers at the time of the interview. Their responses are the basis for understanding the reason for the motherhood postponement.
