Abstract
In this research we begin by problematizing a pedagogical impasse at the National University of Music, which is currently in a licensing process that reforms its structure. That it is passing from the name of National Conservatory of Music to National University of Music. This situation implies a moment of critical review of its pedagogical design. However, the new proposal is far removed from the needs that the current labor market imposes on professional musicians. Through a selection of particular moments throughout the history of the institution up to the present, we will trace a kind of parallel history of what we consider to be the structural and ideological background of said impasse. On the other hand, we will analyze the job opportunities of the graduates of the institution so as to account for the relationship that exists between the pedagogical proposal and the labor market.
