Abstract
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo estudiar el malestar psicológico y los
patrones alimenticios desadaptativos en los jóvenes universitarios durante la pandemia debido
al COVID-19. Con este fin se evaluó a 211 adultos jóvenes, 142 mujeres (67.3%), 67 hombres
(31.8%) y 2 personas no binarias (0.9%) entre los 18 y 25 años (M = 21.8, DE= 1.72) que
estudian las carreras de Psicología (46%), Derecho (11%), Economía (10%) y Comunicaciones
(9%) en tres universidades privadas. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron una versión del Three
Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ), una adaptación del Inventario de Estrés Académico
(SISCO) y la adaptación de la Escala de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés (DASS). Se encontró
que la Restricción Cognitiva correlaciona positivamente con los estresores, pero no con las
áreas del DASS. En cuanto a la Alimentación Emocional, se encontró que correlaciona con
estresores, depresión, ansiedad y estrés, y en cuanto a la Alimentación Descontrolada, se
encontró que correlaciona directamente con los estresores, y las dimensiones de ansiedad y
estrés del DASS más no con depresión. Además, se encontró que las correlaciones entre las
variables fueron diferentes en hombres y en mujeres. Las implicancias de estos resultados son
discutidas.
The study aimed to evaluate the emotional distress and maladaptive eating patterns in university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 211 young adults have been included in this study, 142 women (67.3%), 67 men (31.8%) and 2 nonbinary (0.9%) between 18 and 25 years old (M = 21.8, DE= 1.72) who study Psychology (46%), Law (11%), Economics (10%) y Communications (9%) in three different private universities: Number one (64%), Number two (13%) and Number three (9%). The instruments used for this study were a version of the Three Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ), an adaptation of the Inventory of Academic Stress (SISCO) and the adaptation of the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS). Cognitive Restriction was found to be positively correlated with the stressors, but not with the dimensions of the DASS. Emotional Eating was found to be correlated with stressors, depression, anxiety and stress. Finally, Uncontrolled Eating was found to be directly correlated with stressors, and the anxiety and stress dimensions of the DASS but not with depression. In addition, it was found that the correlations between the variables were different for men and for women. The implications of these results are discussed.
