Abstract
participantes.
This research aims to study the relationship between vocational identity with self concept clarity, and life satisfaction in 11th grade students. To do so, 298 adolescents from ages 15 to 18 (M= 16.54, DE= 0.58) from five private schools of Lima were evaluated with the Vocational Identity Status Assesment (VISA) (Porfeli et al., 2011), the Self Concept Clarity Scale (SCCS) (Campbell et al., 1996), and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) (Pavot & Diener, 1993). The VISA, that measures vocational identity through commitment, reconsideration of commitment, and exploration; was translated, adapted, and its psychometric properties were analyzed for this purpose. We found that the VISA showed good psychometric properties, and confirmed the 6 factor structure of the model. The results showed that commitment has a positive relation with self concept clarity unlike reconsideration of commitment, which has a negative association. Likewise, commitment showed a positive relation with life satisfaction, and the contrary occurred with reconsideration of commitment. In addition, we found differences according to gender, and socioeconomic level.
