Abstract
Historical and contemporary analysis of the constituent components of the territorial structure of Barranco, from pre-Hispanic times through colonial times and, especially, its conformation as a recreational spaces in the late nineteenth and late twentieth centuries. It is a multiscale analysis, which goes from the territory, to the urban scale and the architecture that constitutes it. With special reference to public spaces and mobility in which the pedestrian is privileged, faced with the challenges imposed by the introduction of automotive transport and infrastructure, which far from what was in the past, with railways and trams, become in an element of degradation of the historical and cultural values settled in the local district and its places.
