Resumen
Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar las metáforas relacionadas a la
gestión institucional empleadas por los docentes de un instituto de idiomas de Lima. La
categoría central de este estudio es la gestión institucional, entendida como un conjunto
de acciones que integran planificación, dirección y control para alcanzar los objetivos
institucionales y promover la calidad educativa.
El estudio se llevó a cabo bajo un enfoque cualitativo, empleando entrevistas
semiestructuradas como técnica de recolección de datos. Los informantes fueron seis
docentes con al menos siete años de experiencia en la institución, seleccionados por su
conocimiento del entorno organizacional. A partir de sus respuestas, se identificaron
metáforas conceptuales y lingüísticas que reflejan las orientaciones y tensiones
presentes en la gestión institucional.
Entre los hallazgos se identificaron metáforas como "poner mano dura" y "ser
buena gente," que reflejan las tensiones entre rigor y flexibilidad en la supervisión.
Expresiones como "el estudiante como cliente" evidencian la dualidad entre la misión
educativa y la lógica comercial, mientras que frases como "nuevos aires" y "pintarnos
pajaritos" destacan barreras en la comunicación y expectativas de renovación en el
liderazgo. Estas metáforas, además de describir percepciones individuales, exponen
patrones colectivos sobre las dinámicas organizativas y las áreas críticas de mejora.
La investigación concluye que las metáforas son herramientas analíticas y
generativas que permiten captar la complejidad de la gestión institucional y ofrecen una
comprensión más profunda de las percepciones docentes. Este enfoque contribuye a
identificar desafíos organizativos y a diseñar estrategias para fortalecer las prácticas de
gestión en instituciones educativas.
The research titled “Metaphors Related to Institutional Management Used by Teachers at a Language Institute in Lima” aims to analyze to analyze the metaphors related to institutional management used by the teachers of a language institute in Lima. The core category of this study is institutional management, conceptualized as a set of actions integrating planning, leadership, and control to achieve institutional objectives and enhance educational quality. This qualitative study used semi-structured interviews as the primary data collection technique. Six teachers with at least seven years of experience in the institution were selected as informants, chosen for their knowledge of the organizational environment. Their responses revealed conceptual and linguistic metaphors that reflect the orientations and tensions within institutional management. Key findings include metaphors such as "poner mano dura" and "ser buena gente" which highlight tensions between rigor and flexibility in supervision. Expressions like "the student as a client" reveal the duality between the educational mission and commercial logic, while metaphors such as "new winds" and "building castles in the air" underscore communication barriers and expectations for leadership renewal. These metaphors, beyond individual perceptions, reveal collective patterns about organizational dynamics and critical areas for improvement. The study concludes that metaphors are both analytical and generative tools that capture the complexity of institutional management while providing deeper insights into teachers’ perceptions. This approach contributes to identifying organizational challenges and designing strategies to strengthen management practices in educational institutions.
