Peru is a developing country that possesses many resources such as rivers, land, fauna, and flora, which are not being properly utilized due to a lack of technology, appropriate machinery, and other factors. In particular, the country’s rivers are not adequately used because of the absence of suitable technology. As a result, agriculture does not achieve proper development, many areas lack access to potable water, and hydraulic energy is not efficiently harnessed to generate electricity. The present thesis, entitled Design of a Reversible Electro-Hydraulic Unit, seeks to address the problem of energy generation in remote areas and water pumping during low-water seasons. This unit consists of a reversible hydraulic turbomachine and a reversible electric machine. The design is carried out following the VDI 2221 methodology, obtaining the expected results of generation and pumping at a lower cost, while producing an innovative machine. The main conclusions reached in this research indicate that a reversible electro-hydraulic unit has been designed, featuring an impeller capable of operating as a pump with long blades and as a turbine with shorter blades. Likewise, the behavior of the entire turbomachine exhibits a special form due to its structure, resembling an action-reaction machine. Similarly, the volute resembles a combination of both a pump and a turbine casing.
