futuro.
The Museum of Ancón, designed by Guillermo Málaga, was conceived as an effort to safeguard archaeological memory in the midst of urban expansion that threatened the necropolis, and over time it became a silent architectural landmark, overshadowed by disordered growth and a lack of integration with the community. This project stems from the conviction that the museum deserves to be revalued, not only as a heritage object but as a living space capable of generating connections with the city and its inhabitants. The central objective is to propose an Intervention Project that restores the museum’s presence in the life of the district, while complementary objectives focus on analyzing the museum as a modern landmark, extracting architectural readings that can be translated into design guidelines, and formulating an urban proposal that supports the building in addressing the crises identified in its surroundings. The methodology combines the historical and architectural study of the museum, the systematization of insights into a research project, and their application to the real context, where they are materialized into strategies of use, materiality, and form. This process makes it possible to transfer what has been analyzed and learned into a concrete design exercise that establishes dialogue between the museum and its immediate environment. As a result, the proposed intervention organizes the program through courtyards and polyvalent axes, materializes urban galleries derived from local typologies, and restructures public space to improve coexistence among users. The project argues that the Museum of Ancón is not merely preserved but projected forward, expanding into the city and becoming a cultural catalyst, demonstrating that architectural heritage acquires its true meaning when it engages with the present and opens new possibilities for the future.
