Abstract
The transportation sector has evolved through the development of new business models based on technological intermediation, improving efficiency and service quality in areas such as cabs. However, other modes of transportation, such as light cargo transportation, still operate in a traditional manner, thus providing an opportunity for innovation. This study analyzes a problem that affects the micro and small business segment, noting the need to transport goods more efficiently, with greater flexibility and availability of transport units, and at a reasonable price. The proposed solution seeks to connect users and carriers in real time, using technology accessible to all. This also benefits those entrepreneurs engaged in light cargo transportation, providing them with greater visibility and recurrence in their services. Thus, after analyzing market characteristics and user experience, a prototype solution was designed. This development was accompanied by the structuring of a profitable, scalable and sustainable business model. In addition to its innovative approach, the proposed solution is financially attractive. A net present value (NPV) of S/ 4,624,531 and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 46.58% in the first 5 years of operation were projected, demonstrating the economic viability of the project and its potential to generate significant returns for investors and market participants. Furthermore, the proposed solution not only reduces the gap between supply and demand for transportation services, but also creates new employment opportunities and fosters economic inclusion, contributing to SDGs 8 and 9. In summary, the proposed solution for light freight transportation stands out for its innovative approach by using accessible technology, its social impact by bringing users and service providers closer together, its attractive profitability demonstrated by NPV and IRR, and its alignment with the SDGs by promoting modernization and sustainable economic growth.
