(FCS), Multidimensional Assessment of COVID-19 Related Fears (MAC-RF) y
Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS).
The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between anxiety, fear of COVID-19 and academic procrastination in university students in Metropolitan Lima in 2022. The research sought to compare the scores of the variables according to sex, frequency of exposure to information about the pandemic and risk perception of coronavirus infection among participant’s family members. The sample consisted of 239 students, 69 men and 170 women, whose ages ranged from 18 to 25 years. Data collection used in the study were the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS), Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCS), Multidimensional Assessment of COVID-19 Related Fears (MAC-RF) and Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS). Findings revealed that Anxiety and Fear of Covid-19 were positive and strongly related; whereas, the correlations regarding academic procrastination had a medium and weak effect. Path analysis showed that the studied variables could explain academic´s procrastination dimensions. ANOVA analysis found that the exposure to information and beliefs about the risk of contagion of relatives can develop higher scores of anxiety and fear of the pandemic in the individuals. No significant differences were found according to sex. It is concluded that there is an association between anxiety and fear of COVID-19 that could be directed to explain the increasing levels of academic procrastination, since it would be affecting educational spaces, as well as the student´s performance.
