Abstract
Rendimiento (CAR) y 115 a Clubes privados.
The aim of this study is to describe the relation between social context, autonomous and controlled motivation and subjective well-being in high level athletes, based on the Selfdetermination theory (SDT). To achieve the aim of the study a sample of 234 Peruvian athletes was collected. Participants’ ages are between 14 and 25 years old (M=18.29, DE=2.88). The whole sample is divided in two groups; Centers of High Performance (CAR) and Private Clubs. Findings reveal that the athletes who belong to CAR have a more positive perception of social context tan the ones from the other group (MdnCar = 2.70, MdnClub = 2.56, p = .00). On the other hand, the study reports differences in autonomous motivation (MdnCar = 6.11, MdnClub = 6.22, p = .00) and satisfaction with life (MdnCar = 5.60, MdnClub = 6.20, p = .00) in favor of the athletes of private clubs. The study concludes that the perception of the context relates in different ways to quality of motivation and satisfaction with life considering the type of institution they belong. This particular situation could have future implications associated with their sport development.
