Abstract
The current thesis aims to examine, from a social management perspective, whether the project " Mejora tu vida, Mejora tu cocina”, implemented between 2015 and 2016 by the NGO Practical Solutions, succeeded in strengthening entrepreneurs in the province of Jaén, in the Cajamarca region, and contributed to the revitalization of the market for Certified Improved Stoves (hereinafter CMC) and their acquisition by families associated with the Cenfrocafé Cooperative. For the purposes of this research, the project, which we call "Improved Stoves," (Cocinas Mejoradas in Spanish) identified a limited development of the CMC market in the provinces of Jaén, and San Ignacio due to weaknesses in supply, demand, and access to financing for the acquisition of CMCs. They also found a high incidence of respiratory and diarrheal diseases in the intervention area due to pollution generated by traditional stoves inside homes, mainly affecting women and children. Given this situation, a qualitative case study was conducted, focused on the project's actions in the province of Jaén, which included in-depth interviews with nine entrepreneurs who were trained as part of the analyzed project. Additionally, information was collected from other stakeholders (project representatives, representatives of the cooperative that provided microcredits, and CMC users) and project documentation. The results obtained, based on the information generated and analyzed, have allowed us to propose recommendations that contribute to strengthening the implementation of this project.
