Abstract
La comprensión de lectura es una de las competencias curriculares que genera mayor
preocupación en el país debido a los bajos resultados, que obtienen los niños
peruanos, en las pruebas de rendimiento, nacionales e internacionales. La literatura
especializada destaca la relevancia del aprendizaje de estrategias de comprensión de
lectura para el desarrollo de la misma y reconoce la estrecha vinculación del
vocabulario con la comprensión. A partir de estas premisas, se llevó a cabo una
intervención con un programa virtual basado en estrategias de comprensión y
ejercicios de vocabulario. El presente estudio tuvo por objetivo evaluar su efecto en la
comprensión de lectura y el vocabulario de un grupo de 49 niños de quinto grado de
primaria de Lima de nivel socioeconómico medio-bajo, en comparación con un grupo
de 39 niños que no empleó el programa. Los resultados indicaron que el grupo que
empleó el programa obtuvo mejoras estadísticamente significativas en comprensión de
lectura de textos narrativos y en vocabulario respecto del grupo control. A partir de
este resultado se discute la pertinencia de los ejercicios basados en estrategias de
comprensión de lectura y vocabulario empleados, así como la necesidad de futuros
estudios sobre el rol de la tecnología como variable mediadora del programa.

Abstract Reading comprehension is one of the curricular competencies of most concern in the country due to low achievement results of Peruvian children in national and international test. Specialized literature emphasizes the learning of reading comprehension strategies for developing this process. Also,considers the close relationbetween vocabulary and reading comprehension. Supported on this information, aninterventionwith an online program based on reading comprehension strategies and vocabulary exercises was conducted.The present study assesses the effects on the reading comprehension and vocabulary of 49 fifth-graders, of mid-low socioeconomic level of Lima and compared their results with a group of 39 fifth-graders that didn’t use the program. Effect of the intervention was found for reading comprehension of narrative texts and for vocabulary measures, where the group of students that use de program score better than the control group at statistical significant level. Based on this results, pertinence of the reading comprehension strategies based exercises and vocabulary exercises was discuss, as the need of future studies about the technology used (on-line platform) as a variable for deliver the program.
