This research on the Independence process in the district of Chancay, during the prelude to the San Martinian stage, seeks to reconstruct the networks of actors qualified as insurgents, by means of social microhistory, in order to determine, for the district of Chancay, the composition of the production network and the cattle trading circuit at the end of the colonial stage in Peru, the relationship between the insurgent network and the network previously determined and as well as the role of the local actors belonging to the Creole sector linked to the cattle production and trading, analyzing the formation of their pro-insurgent political option, the situations which boosted their behavior, and their political-military action within the sub-regional space. The reconstructed network is integrated by actors with conspiratorial experience, members of the local sub elite, as well as clergymen of different orders and hierarchies, whose insurgent activity occurs after the impact generated by the successful revolution in Buenos Aires and Chile. The space of action of the network overflows the district of Chancay, covering those of Santa, Huaylas, Conchucos and Cajatambo, where the cattle activity guaranteed the access to the resources for war, the trading and the muleteers, which facilitated the mobilization of the agents. In this context, two actors stand out: José de la Riva Agüero, head of the conspiracy, and Andrés de los Reyes, member of a wealthy family dedicated to pig breeding, trade of rams and production of lard for the Lima market.
