Abstract
El modelo tradicional de colegios, universidades y otras instituciones
educativas dentro de la ciudad de Lima Metropolitana sigue una lógica
funcional hacia el interior del predio, empleando muros ciegos o rejas
para distanciarse de la ciudad. A partir de estas barreras urbanas, la
perspectiva general de estos equipamientos suele percibirse como
espacios y recorridos desarticulados de la vida urbana alrededor.
Por otro lado, en los últimos 60 años, el incremento en la altura de
nuevas edificaciones ha ocasionado un cambio en el perfil urbano de la
ciudad, derivando una pérdida en la escala de obras arquitectónicas
emblemáticas construidas bajo paradigmas y lineamientos propios del
siglo XX. Dentro de estas, se encuentra, por ejemplo, el Colegio de los
Sagrados Corazones de Belén, en el distrito de San Isidro.
La investigación realizada parte de la planimetría alojada en el Archivo
de Arquitectura PUCP para entender el caso de estudio en su estado
original, así como un registro fotográfico del exterior e interior de esta
institución educativa en su estado actual.
El Colegio Belén sigue una lógica racional en cuanto a emplazamiento,
configuración estructural, fachada y cerramientos. Sin embargo, este ha
perdido su escala original por la presión inmobiliaria y el incremento en
altura de las edificaciones aledañas. Por ende, se plantea desarrollar una
pieza de infraestructura urbana complementaria a la trama preexistente:
el proyecto Trama Abierta Belén, con una permeabilidad variable en sus
recorridos. Además, su forma y programa parten de las actividades
extracurriculares que ofrece el colegio en la actualidad.
De esta forma, el colegio vuelve a integrarse a la vida urbana del lugar al
albergar una mayor variedad de usos y en diferentes horarios,
ofreciendo igualmente un sentido de integración al vecindario.
The traditional model of schools, universities and other educational institutions within the metropolitan area of Lima, Peru, follows a functional logic towards the interior of the property, using perimetric walls or bars to distance themselves from the city. Due to these urban barriers, the general perspective of these facilities is usually perceived as dead spaces and walkways separated from the urban life nearby. On the other hand, in the last 60 years, the increase in the height of new buildings has caused a change in the urban profile of the city, resulting in a loss in the scale of emblematic architectural projects built under paradigms and guidelines typical of the past century. Among these is, for example, the School of Sacreds Hearts of Belen, in the San Isidro district. The research carried out begins with the planimetry of the PUCP Architecture Archive for a proper understanding of the case of study in its original state, as well as a photographic record of the exterior and interior of this educational institution in its current state. Belén School follows a rational logic in terms of location, structural configuration, facade and enclosures. However, it has lost its original scale due to real estate pressure and the increase in height of the surrounding buildings. Therefore, there is a proposal to develop a piece of urban infrastructure complementary to the pre-existing plot: the Belen Open Grid proyect, with variable permeability in its accesibility between more public or more private spaces. Furthermore, its form and program are based on the extracurricular activities and complementary services that the school currently offers to its users. As such, the school is once again integrated into the urban life of the place by hosting a greater variety of uses and at different times, also offering a sense of integration to the neighborhood.
