Abstract
virtuales, ofreciendo apoyo emocional y espiritual. El Estado se ha centrado en
la salud pública, proporcionando atención médica y regulando actividades. A
The present study was conducted within a qualitative descriptive framework and a phenomenological design. Eight individuals were utilized to analyze death rituals, perceptions of the church and state, and social representations of rituals following deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was found that the pandemic has significantly impacted funeral rituals and the grieving process, particularly among older adults. Biosecurity restrictions from the Government have altered traditional farewell practices, leading to limitations on burials and vigils. Both the Church and the State have played crucial roles in providing support to the people. The Church has adapted its approaches through online services and virtual funerals, offering emotional and spiritual support. The State has focused on public health, providing medical care and regulating activities. Despite their efforts, shortcomings in communication and execution have raised questions about the effectiveness of the State. Collectively, these transformations have resulted in a complex emotional and psychological experience for mourners, reshaping how they cope with loss and grief amidst adaptations and limitations.
