Resumen
Actualmente, la demanda mundial de hierro, materia prima clave para la producción
de acero, muestra un crecimiento sostenido. En el Perú, solo una empresa minera lidera el
procesamiento y comercialización de este recurso, generando oportunidades significativas en
el mercado. Sin embargo, para cumplir con sus objetivos de producción, la empresa depende
de contratistas especializados, uno de los cuales enfrenta dificultades para alcanzar la meta
mensual de 5.5 millones de toneladas, entregando en promedio menos de 5.0 millones.
El principal factor que contribuye a esta brecha es la baja disponibilidad mecánica de los
equipos, que se sitúa en un 85%, un 5% por debajo del estándar de la industria. Esto afecta
directamente la capacidad de producción y competitividad.
Se propone implementar metodologías avanzadas de mantenimiento, como el Mantenimiento
Centrado en la Confiabilidad (RCM) y el Mantenimiento Productivo Total (TPM),
incluyendo pilares como el mantenimiento autónomo y planificado. Además, el análisis de
modos y efectos de falla (AMEF) permitirá identificar y mitigar las causas principales de
indisponibilidad como el número de paradas no planificadas. El plan incluye capacitar al
personal, optimizar la supervisión, motivar al personal técnico y evaluar rigurosamente a los
proveedores para alinear sus servicios con los objetivos estratégicos.
Finalmente, se realizará un análisis económico exhaustivo para evaluar el impacto de la
propuesta, considerando mejoras en la disponibilidad mecánica, reducción de paradas no
planificadas, optimización de costos operativos y retorno de inversión, fortaleciendo así la
competitividad de la empresa en el mercado.
Currently, the global demand for iron, a key raw material for steel production, is experiencing sustained growth. In Peru, only one mining company leads the processing and commercialization of this resource, generating significant market opportunities. However, to meet its production goals, the company relies on specialized contractors, one of which struggles to achieve the monthly target of 5.5 million tons, delivering an average of less than 5.0 million. The main factor contributing to this gap is the low mechanical availability of the equipment, which stands at 85%, 5% below the industry standard. This directly impacts production capacity and competitiveness. The implementation of advanced maintenance methodologies is proposed, such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), including pillars like autonomous and planned maintenance. Additionally, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) will help identify and mitigate the main causes of unavailability, such as the number of unplanned downtimes. The plan includes training personnel, optimizing supervision, motivating technical staff, and rigorously evaluating suppliers to align their services with strategic objectives. Finally, a comprehensive economic analysis will be conducted to evaluate the impact of the proposal, considering improvements in mechanical availability, reduction of unplanned downtimes, optimization of operating costs, and return on investment, thus strengthening the company's competitiveness in the market.
