Abstract
realizaban actividades religiosas y sociales.
El valor urbano del atrio estuvo presente desde la preexistencia;
The Pastoral Center of Huacho, designed by José García Bryce in 1959, is recognized for its urban value and community role where religious and social activities were carried out. The urban connection of the atrium was present since pre-existence, incorporating structural elements that provided architectural quality. Currently, the change of bishopric meant the transformation to a Church of worship and opulence, reflected in the construction of a façade that breaks the urban connection and encloses the project in its perimeter due to the urban and commercial growth. Objective: Design a proposal that resolves the urban and community connection of the project in its current context. For this, the footprint and fronts are reconsidered through the reinterpretation of architectural elements designed by García Bryce that provide permeability. Methodology: The original planimetry of the AAPUCP is digitized to identify strategies and potential elements of the project. Together with the observations registered in the field, the changes of the project are identified and graphic pieces are elaborated that support the proposal. Results: A piece inserted between two grids is implemented that gives order to the lot. Also, permeates the perimeter and footprint of the project through the reinterpretation of elements by JGB: internal streets, enclosures with structural value and the portico. In addition, the community role of the Pastoral Center is taken into account to rethink the program: it maintains the religious use, recovers the social and formative one, and the economic-productive is implemented with the cultural one to promote tourism and social work. The urban value of the atrium was present since pre-existence; faced with the urban and commercial growth of the context, it is proposed to define it spatially through the portico that maintains permeability and grows in height as an urban landmark.
