Abstract
El siguiente estudio tiene como propósito analizar la relación entre los rasgos de
personalidad y el ausentismo laboral. La muestra está conformada por la totalidad de profesores
(n=45) que laboran en una institución pública de Lima Metropolitana. Se utilizó la escala de
personalidad de Goldberg (1990) validada en el contexto peruano por Calderón (2003) y el
índice de ausentismo de los colaboradores, en el periodo de Mayo a Julio del 2017. Los
resultados muestran correlaciones significativas y positivas entre ausentismo y extraversión,
agradabilidad, estabilidad emocional y apertura a la experiencia; mientras que, para conciencia,
se encontró una correlación significativa y negativa. Estos hallazgos revelan la importancia de
la selección de personal como una estrategia útil para predecir el ausentismo especialmente si
se utilizan pruebas basadas en la personalidad.
The purpose of this investigation is to analyze the possible relationship between personality traits and absenteeism. This study used the totality of employees that work in a public institution of Lima Metropolitana. The Big Five Personality Trait Scale developed by Goldberg (1990) and adapted in the peruvian context by Calderón (2003) and the rate of employees’s absenteeism, from May to July 2017, were utilized. The results show significant and positive correlations among absenteeism and extravertion, agradability, emotional stability and openness meanwhile, there was found a significant and negative correlation with consciousness. These results reveal that a personnel selection approach based in personality tests might be useful to predict absenteeism.
