Abstract
This research aims to measure the relationship between paternal sensibility and the secure base behaviour, as well as to explore the role that marital satisfaction has in this relationship. The participants were 12 parents with ages between 26 and 54 years old (M = 39, SD = 2.2) with children between 48 and 66 months (M = 55. 75, SD = 1.7) from a high SES. The specific objective is to compare this relationship to another from a previous research study in which the participants came from a mid-high SES. The instruments used were the Maternal Behavior for Preschoolers Q-Set, adapted by Marinelli (2013), originally created by Posada, Moreno and Richmond (1998 in Posada, et al. 2007), and the Attachment Q-Set (AQS) version 3.0 (Waters, 1995), as well as Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) (Hendrick, 1988) in an adapted version to a Latinamerican population by Moral de la Rubia (2008). The results show a significant relationship between paternal sensibility and the secured base behaviour (r = .67, p = .02). Additionally, this research shows no relation between marital satisfaction and paternal sensibility. Finally, there were no significant differences in the relation between paternal sensibility and the secured base behaviour regarding the socioeconomic level.
