Bienestar psicológico en adultos jóvenes con trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar cómo se da el bienestar psicológico, a nivel global y por escalas, en personas con el trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad (TDAH) y las posibles diferencias que habría con personas que no presentan el trastorno. Se contó con 58 participantes universitarios entre las edades de 18 y 30 años, dentro de los cuales 29 presentaban el diagnostico de TDAH y 29 que no. Se utilizó el ASRS v1.1 (Adult ADHD Self-ReportScale versión1) (Kessler et al., 2007) como instrumento de cribado y descarte para el grupo comparativo. Para la medición de bienestar psicológico se utilizó la Escala de Bienestar Psicológico en la versión corta de 29 ítems (Diaz et al, 2006). Se halló que participantes con TDAH presentan puntajes más bajos en las escalas de autoaceptación, manejo del ambiente, propósito en la vida, crecimiento personal y a nivel de bienestar global que los no presentan el trastorno. La investigación encuentra relaciones significativas entre ambos constructos donde personas con TDAH tienden a presentar menor bienestar psicológico que las personas que no lo presentan.

The objective of this research was to analyze the way psychological well-being is present, overall and by scales, among people with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and the possible differences that can be found when compared to people without ADHD. The study was made among 58 college students between that ages of 18 and 30, where 29 were diagnosed with ADHD and 29 who weren’t. For the comparative group the ASRS v1.1 (Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale versión1) (Kessler et al., 2007) was used for filter purposes. For psychological well-being the participants was assessed the 29 items short version Psychological Well-Being Scale (Diaz et al, 2006). Results found that participants diagnosed with ADHD score lower in the self-acceptance Environment management, purpose in life and personal growth scales and in overall well-being that those who weren’t diagnosed. The research found significant relations among both constructs where people with ADHD show lower psychological well-being that those without ADHD. The present study does not state direct causality, but encourage follow up studies to keep investigating both subjects.
