Concept Thought: diseño de edublog que integra la semiótica visual al proceso creativo del concept artist para enriquecer la narrativa visual de filmes animados 3D peruanos

Resumen
En Perú, generalmente se considera al cine de animación 3D nacional como
de baja calidad, con la excepción de ‘Ainbo’ (2021), ‘Dalia y el libro rojo’ (2024) o
‘Kayara’ (2025), por lo menos, en cuanto a calidad técnica se refiere.
Sin embargo, la memorabilidad de una película no se define únicamente por
la calidad de su renderizado: el estilo visual y su diseño también son importantes,
especialmente si consideramos su influencia en el juicio de los espectadores sobre
la historia.
En la película peruana ‘El Cascanueces’ (2015) se pueden comprobar las
dificultades del diseño de personajes, escenarios y objetos para narrar la historia
(narrativa visual). Puede deberse, aunque no únicamente, a un proceso de concept
art principalmente intuitivo. Una metodología de trabajo clara, apoyada en los
conceptos de la semiótica visual como los signos icónico y plástico, y el triángulo
semiótico, podría ayudar a que este proceso de diseño sea más reflexivo y efectivo.
‘Concept Thought’ es un edublog que logra integrar dichos conceptos al
proceso del concept artist de forma didáctica y amena, cuyos resultados, en el caso
específico de rediseño de ‘El Cascanueces’, mejoran la narrativa visual del filme.
Mayores estudios se necesitan realizar para corroborar su aplicación en una
producción real, y que contemple la etapa de modelado y animación en 3D.
In Peru, 3D animation is generally considered to be of low quality, with the exception of 'Ainbo' (2021), 'Dalia and the Red Book' (2024), and 'Kayara' (2025), at least in terms of technical quality. However, a film's memorability is not defined solely by the quality of its rendering: the visual style and design are also important, especially considering their influence on viewers' judgment of the story. In the Peruvian film 'The Nutcracker Sweet' (2015), the difficulties in designing characters, sets, and objects to tell the story (visual narrative) can be seen. This may be due, but is not exclusively, to a primarily intuitive concept art process. A clear working methodology, supported by visual semiotics concepts such as iconic and plastic signs, and the semiotic triangle, could help make this design process more thoughtful and effective. 'Concept Thought' is an edublog that integrates these concepts into the concept artist's process in an educational and engaging way. The results, in the specific case of the redesign of 'The Nutcracker Sweet,' enhance the film's visual narrative. Further studies are needed to corroborate its application in a real-life production, including the 3D modeling and animation stages. 4
