Abstract
En el presente estudio se tuvo como finalidad describir la relación entre los factores de personalidad y las características de consumo de alcohol, en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios. La muestra no probabilística estuvo conformada por 76 estudiantes universitarios (M = 17,7 años), nacidos en Lima, en su mayoría mujeres y de una facultad de letras. La medición de la personalidad se llevó a cabo con el NEO PI-R versión S; y para las características de consumo de alcohol se modificó los instrumentos de Chau (1998) y Windle (1996). Los resultados revelaron que Extraversión y Apertura a la Experiencia fueron las características de personalidad que mostraron mayor asociación con el consumo de alcohol entre los estudiantes encuestados. Por último, se encontró que Agradabilidad podría ser considerado como un factor protector ante diversos problemas relacionados con el consumo de alcohol y que Neuroticismo podría ser un factor de riesgo en el caso del uso del alcohol como estrategia de afrontamiento.

The personality measurement was made with the NEO PI-R version S, and for the characteristics of alcohol consumption, the instruments of Chau (1998) and Windle (1996) were modified. The results showed that Extraversion and Openness were the individual characters that were more associated with alcohol consumption among the students of the sample. Finally, Agradability could be considered as a protection factor against several problems related with the alcohol consumption, and Neuroticism could be a risk factor in the case of the use of alcohol as coping.
