In the acting field, actors and actresses face the process of approaching their characters using techniques and tools that allow them to explore with the body, the emotions or the given circumstances found in the text. Based on this, I felt a strong desire to incorporate, into the acting training and practice, the physical approach to a character from working with a method that is already known in the field, but with the invitation to explore it through a contemporary musical stimulus. Therefore, the aim of the research is to analyze the possibility of using pop music as a creative stimulus to boost the process of approaching a character through the exploration of Rudolf Laban’s eight efforts. In order to develop this study, a theater laboratory was carried out with the participation of three actresses from the Performing Arts Faculty at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. According to the research findings, it was observed that pop music effectively stimulated the actresses’ exploratory work and allowed them to develop a scenic sequence in which their physical resources were optimized and their body expressiveness was taken to the highest level. Likewise, this work enhanced the exploration of other important aspects such as the actor’s presence, their creative and body freedom, and the approach to an emotional work from a physical level.
