perfeccionismo auto orientado (r=.43, p<.05) y socialmente prescrito (r =.44, p<.05).
The objective of this research is to know the relationship between body dissatisfaction and perfectionism in young university students in Lima, and to explore the differences between groups based on personal and sociodemographic variables. For this, 79 female students from a private university in Metropolitan Lima participated, whose ages ranged from 18 to 25 years (M=21.38, DE=2.13). To measure body dissatisfaction, the Body Shape Questionnaire (Cooper et al., 1987) was applied and to measure perfectionism, the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (Hewitt & Flett, 1991). A direct relationship was found between body dissatisfaction and self-oriented (r=.43, p<.05) and socially prescribed perfectionism (r =.44, p<.05). Likewise, body dissatisfaction was directly associated with body mass index (BMI) (r=.37, p<.05), exercise frequency (r=.32, p<.05), and dieting to lose weight (r=.56, p<.05); and inversely with the perceived health (r=-.23, p<.05) and age of the participants (r=-.24, p<.05). Based on the above, the importance of studying both variables is concluded, since they influence physical, mental and social health, and function as risk factors for the development of eating disorders.
