Abstract
Father involvement of children with cancer with ages between 3 and 5 years old This research aims to describe the characteristics of father involvement in children with cancer and to compare levels of father involvement between this first group and a group of fathers with healthy children. The first group of parents was between 25 and 50 years old (M = 35.17, SD = 6.80), and their children were 13 boys and 17 girls with cancer who were receiving outpatient treatment. And the second group of parents, were between 22 and 46 years old (M = 35.7, SD = 6.39) and have 18 girls and 12 boys who study in an Initial Education Center in Lima. We evaluated those groups of fathers with the Father Involvement Questionnaire and with the Incomplete Phrases by Domecq (2010). The results indicate that fathers with a child with cancer have a higher level of father involvement than the group of fathers who have a healthy child, so the condition of a disease would improve father skills for responding to children´s demands.
