Abstract
Abstract This study aims to know the direction and intensity of the relationship between religiosity, religious practices and subjective well-being in young Catholics of Lima Norte. The scale of Post-Critical beliefs (Hutsebaut, 1996), Religious Practices (Saroglou & Muñoz-García, 2000), and Satisfaction with life (Diener, Emmos, Larsen & Griffin, 1985) were used with a sample of 80 participants explicitly self-identified Catholics practitioners. Results show that the sample evaluated interprets religious contents symbolically, in which considerate God, religion, individual prayer and spirituality important elements in their lives and show themselves satisfaction with life. Similarly, positive associations between subjective well-being and the areas involved in religious practices were found: classic religiosity (rs (80) = .43, p<0.01), and Spirituality (rs (80) = .23, p<0,05). Besides, inverse relationships between some areas involved in religiosity and religious practices were showed: orthodoxy and spirituality (rs (80) =-.26, p<0,05); historic relativism and spirituality (rs (80)=-.31, p<0,01); classic religiosity and external review (rs (80)=-.32, p<0,01); y external review and spirituality (rs (80)=-.51, p<0,01). However, no significant associations between religiosity and subjective well-being or significant correlations between psychological variables and sociodemographic variables (gender and age) were reported.
