Adolescence is a stage in which physical, psychological, and social changes related to sexuality take place; however, in Peru, the adolescent population is affected by the violation of their Sexual and Reproductive Rights (SRR). This violation is reflected through the high number of cases of sexual violence, that mainly affect adolescent women, and through the precariousness of sex education in schools and families. Faced with this reality, arises the adolescent activism of FLA-VES (Formando Líderes Adolescentes en Villa El Salvador), a collective that seeks to defend SRR. In this sense, this research aims to analyze the participation of adolescent women activists who belong to an organization for the defense of their SRR. To this end a qualitative methodology is carried out following a thematic analysis. Five adolescent women were interviewed individually and 4 in a participatory interview. The results show that the defense of SRR is important for adolescents since it not only prompted them to join activism but also allows them to maintain their participation despite the challenges they have experienced. Moreover, community participation in FLA-VES is accompanied by processes such as conscientization; all of this contributes to changes in the adolescent girls at an individual and social level. Finally, this research highlights that activism as a form of community participation allows adolescents to make contributions to society, despite adultcentrism.
