Abstract
El presente trabajo ofrece una revisión sobre los principales aportes teóricos e
investigaciones relacionadas al desempeño del docente universitario, así como de las
competencias que se debe desarrollar en un contexto del siglo XXI. El marco teórico
desarrollado presenta la situación actual en el que se desenvuelve el servicio de la
educación superior como la universidad y dentro de ellas al docente universitario como
el responsable de lograr las competencias que requiere el estudiante para ejercer una
determinada carrera.
Ante la demanda de la sociedad con respecto a la universidad, el docente debe
desarrollar competencias que le permitan estar acorde a las aspiraciones de los
estudiantes y el mundo laboral, ante esta situación en la Universidad Continental como
parte de sus políticas ha definido el “desarrollo de los mejores docentes” como un
objetivo estratégico, para brindar una educación de calidad.
Este trabajo tiene como objetivo proponer el programa de mentoría docente para mejorar
el desempeño docente en la percepción estudiantil, la planificación académica y la
ejecución didáctica; de manera que los docentes mentorizados tengan una buena
experiencia y desenvolvimiento natural en la práctica docente, gracias al apoyo y guía
del experto (mentor).
This paper offers a review of the main theoretical contributions and research related to the performance of the university teacher, as well as the competences that must be developed in a 21st century context. The theoretical framework developed presents the current situation in which the service of higher education, such as the university, is developed and, within them, the university teacher as the person in charge of achieving the competencies required by the student to pursue a specific career. Given the demand of society with respect to the university, the teacher must develop skills that allow it to be consistent with the aspirations of students and the world of work, faced with this situation at the Continental University as part of its policies has defined "development of the best teachers "as a strategic objective, to provide a quality education. The objective of this work is to propose the teaching mentoring program to improve the teaching performance in the student perception, the academic planning and the didactic execution; so that the mentored teachers have a good experience and natural development in the teaching practice, thanks to the support and guidance of the expert (mentor).
