Abstract
The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, founded in 1917 in Lima, is a private educational institution known for its academic excellence, diverse programs, and contributions to research and cultural development in Peru and Latin America. The analysis highlights challenges in research management, indicating the lack of comprehensive information systems support that may limit development and represent a competitive disadvantage, as well as the complexity in coordination due to fragmented tools, the use of multiple systems with varying performance, the insufficiency of technological tools for critical management processes, and limitations in information systems that hinder efficient data collection for informed management and research decision making. This research proposes the implementation of integrated system management for research, known as CRIS, known as CRIS (Current Research Information Systems). This solution raises the importance of carrying out an analysis to evaluate the comparative advantages between choosing an existing product in the market or developing one of our own. It also emphasizes the need to design an architecture that optimizes the functions of a CRIS and its integration with Institutional Repositories. The analysis reveals positive expected results, such as the fact that a positive Net Present Value (NPV) has been achieved, amounting to S/.6,050,248.57 which suggests that, in net terms, the project has the potential to generate financial benefits and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR), which is a crucial indicator to evaluate profitability, significantly exceeds the established discount rate of 10.00%, registering an impressive 141.98%. These positive results reveal the creation of value and future profit generation for the University.
