Representaciones sociales del género en artistas teatrales

Abstract

Desde sus inicios, el teatro ha sido un espacio en el cual se han presenciado transgresiones a las normas y expectativas hegemónicas de género, ya sea como una burla o como una rebelión. No obstante, no hay estudios que exploren desde una mirada psicológica como artistas teatrales entienden el género. Para responder a este vacío, esta investigación tiene el objetivo de analizar las representaciones sociales acerca del género en artistas teatrales. Específicamente, busca analizar el rol del trabajo escénico en el desarrollo de las representaciones sociales sobre el género e identificar la estructura de tales representaciones. Para lograr ello, se empleó una metodología cualitativa con artistas teatrales en ejercicio como participantes. Se utilizó una prueba de frases incompletas, una entrevista semiestructurada y tris jerarquizados, y un análisis temático reflexivo para evaluar los resultados. Entre los hallazgos principales, se destaca la idea de que el género es una construcción social como un elemento nuclear en su representación social. Asimismo, les participantes subrayaron el impacto de la cultura y la existencia de la no binariedad. La influencia de los espacios teatrales en estas representaciones fue más evidente en la socialización con personas diversas, destacando la aceptación de la exploración de género como un factor clave del teatro.

Since its inception, theater has been a space where transgressions to hegemonic gender norms and expectations have been encountered, either as a mockery or as a rebellion. However, there are no studies that explore from a psychological perspective how performing artists comprehend gender. To address this gap, this study aims to analyze the social representations of gender among stage artists. Specifically, it seeks to analyze the role of theater work in the development of social representations about gender and to identify their underlying structure. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study engaged practicing stage artists as participants. An incomplete sentence test, a semi-structured interview and hierarchical Tris were utilized, with reflexive thematic analysis applied to evaluate the results. Among the main findings, the idea that gender is a social construct stands out as a core element in their social representation. Likewise, participants underscored the impact of culture and the existence of non-binary identities. The influence of theatrical spaces on these representations was particularly evident in the socialization with diverse people, highlighting the acceptance of gender exploration as a key factor of theater.
