Identificación con el lugar, participación y clima emocional en una comunidad rural de la costa norte del Perú

Abstract

Actualmente, en las comunidades de la costa norte peruana, es común encontrar un clima de desconfianza y pesimismo, que acompaña a la falta de acción social coordinada y de participación comunitaria entre los pobladores (La Barrera, Espinosa, Cueto & Ferrándiz, 2012). La presente investigación se plantea estudiar la relación que las personas desarrollan con el lugar donde viven, cómo esta se vincula con las acciones de participación en el mismo, y la relación de ambas variables con el clima emocional percibido, en una comunidad de la costa norte del Perú (N = 81). Para ello, se correlacionaron las medidas de identificación con el lugar (Programa de Investigación Ciudad y Subjetividad, s.f.; Vidal, Pol, Guàrdia & Peró, 2004), participación comunitaria (Programa de Investigación Ciudad y Subjetividad, s.f.; Vidal et al., 2004) y clima emocional (De Rivera, 1992), indicando que la identificación con el lugar estaría asociada de manera significativa a una alta participación comunitaria y a un clima de confianza en la comunidad. Finalmente, se realiza un análisis de rutas (Path Analysis) para analizar de manera global la relación entre estas variables. Los resultados sugieren que la identificación con el lugar logra tener una influencia sobre el clima positivo en la comunidad, siendo mediada por las diferentes dimensiones de participación comunitaria.

Currently, in rural communities from the Peruvian north coast, it is common to find a climate of distrust and pessimism that accompanies the lack of coordinated social action and community participation among the residents (La Barrera, Espinosa, Cueto & Ferrándiz, 2012). This study analyzes the relationships that people develop with regards to the place where they live in, how it associates to the ways they participate in their community and the relationship that these two variables have with the perceived emotional climate, in a rural community from the northern coast of Peru (N=81). To that end, the scores of place identity (Programa de Investigación Ciudad y Subjetividad, n.d.; Vidal, Pol, Guàrdia & Peró, 2004), community participation (Programa de Investigación Ciudad y Subjetividad, n.d.; Vidal et al, 2004) and emotional climate (De Rivera, 1992) were correlated, indicating that place identity is significantly associated with a high community participation and a climate of trust in the community. Finally, a Path Analysis is performed to analyze comprehensively the relationship between these variables. The results suggest that place identity does have an influence on perceived positive climate in the community, being mediated by the dimensions of community participation.
