Subjective well-being in the Peruvian Amazonia: the structure of their needs There has been an increasing interest in subjective well-being as an alternative concept for economic development. For a better understanding of this construct, it has to be studied in different cultures and environments. The needs and subjective well-being of people from the Amazonia has been studied in recent years; however, there has not been one study that analyzes different sites from this region with different characteristics, such as urban and rural, which limits the possibility of finding regional patterns. This thesis work studies the subjective well-being in the Peruvian Amazonia using the emic post hoc methodology, in order to identify a needs structure that applies to different sites of this region. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted using data from six locations of the Peruvian Amazonia (N = 186), including urban and rural areas of both low and high forest. The results revealed a five needs factor structure: A good place to live, Work and equipped house, Urban goods and services, Basic needs and Raise a family. This structure shows a combination of universal, modern and traditional elements. The findings of this research contribute to the understanding of the Amazon population and can serve as input for the implementation of social policies that seek development in accordance with Amazon population´s conceptions. Keywords: Needs, Subjective well-being, Amazonia...

The consulting report is developed for the Asociación de Pequeños Productores Orgánicos de Querecotillo (APOQ) of Sullana (Piura); This is a leading company in the agro export sector in northern Peru and recognized in the national market with international and fair trade accreditations in the commercialization of organic bananas. The purpose of the strategic project developed is to reduce the knowledge gaps of the producers of the Asociación de Pequeños Productores Orgánicos de Querecotillo (APOQ) of Sullana (Piura); which would be reflected in the reductions in returns and in their settlements for more than 700,000 soles per year. Potential alternatives for solutions to the problems encountered were found and they were focused as strategies; These were subjected to different methodologies, considering choosing only one of them: Knowledge management of the associates. As a consequence, the implementation of a virtual platform was developed that will serve to train associates with active participation in the different stages of organic banana production, through video modules with technical content on the management of the production process. This training transcends both educational training for the associate and his family, seeking to improve their lifestyle. In addition, Querecotillo is one of the poorest districts of Piura, so the economic benefit of the association will be reflected in the economic well-being of its associates, understanding that the claims generated in the shipment of bananas directly affect the family economy. The impact of the viable solution may be reflected in the financial statements from the first year of implementation, which will improve production processes and reduce the number of claims by customers for 2021 to 2% and for 2022 to 0.5 % On sales. In addition, a sales advance in 2021 and 2022, compared to preliminary years, of 6%....

Vista del Valle is an agro-industrial company which become incorporated back in 2014. It dedicated to the production, processing, and trade of certified organic products, mainly greenhouse fruits and vegetables. This industry and market are relatively new in Peru and have high growth potential due to the increased demand for environmentally responsible products and consumer health. The company's main problem is that it does not have a sustainable business management strategy. Despite this situation, the market has encouraged the company to grow by 117% over the past six years. This situation limits the company from increasing its growth rate even further. Among the main causes of the problem are the absence of an organizational structure, absence of financial management, absence of vendor management and poor marketing plan. After identifying the problem and analyzing its causes – in coordination the David Arenas, general manager – eight alternatives of solution were proposed. These were related with Vista del Valles’s material issues and linked to the GRI. From these, after being subject of evaluation criteria of time, cost, effectiveness and share value, the following four were prioritized for implementation: (a) define and implement an organizational structure; (b) improve and implement the Marketing and Labeling Plan; (c) define and implement a Supplier Management Plan; and, (d) define and implement a Financial Management Policy. The selected ones will enable the company to achieve its mission, vision and strategic objectives defined in the short, medium, and long term. The expected implementation period is two years. It is concluded that the implementation of GRI indicators determined for Vista del Valle will allow the sustainable growth of the company, the control, implementation, and maintenance of the Sustainable Management Plan....

Minera Colquisiri S.A founded in 1981 is a Peruvian company located in Huaral, province of Lima. Its core business is the production of concentrate of zinc, lead and cooper being classified as a medium size mining company due to its production of 1,660 daily metric dry tons (DMDT). The company is committed to sustainable sources and the safety of its workers. An important milestone of the company was the discovery of a new mineral zone named ‘Sofía D’ during the 2nd half of 2018, hence the mineral deposit will contribute the 46% of the future productions and useful life was extended for at least another 10 more years. Due to this discover, there is an increase of the production development plan to 2,200 DMDT which is the subject of this study case thesis. To make sure that the company will be able to achieve its estimate new production, we wonder, what are the challenges that the company has to deal with to be able to increase its production to 2,200 DMDT?. Firstly, a methodology of four steps problems solutions, including the gathering of relevant information as well the multivotation matrix, things that allowed the identification of the main issue that is the limited production capability of the central plant. Then, using the Ishikawa diagram, we were able to identified another main causes as the inexistent big volume processing machinery, the wrong distribution and design of the main machinery plant, the lack for the qualified personnel between technicians and labor and the lack of estimate of milestone to be achieved. As a solution plan for the above mentioned issues, a study of the plant capacity and an optimum distribution of the mining unity capacity were done including the measurement of the qualified labor employees, actual and estimate, being identified orientated solutions such as the buying of new specialized machineries to add or be replaced, improvements of the mining areas distributions and increases of hiring adequate personnel. On the same way, a new strategic company plan 2021-2025 must be implemented to achieve business continuity as well as strengthen the organizational culture and values in the face of the demands of new sustainable sources and global economic uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lastly, an implementation plan that includes 23 activities and a total investment of US$ 9’388,000 has been proposed including the definition of the key success factors that aimed the management and technical capacities required as well as the expectation of the four proposed solution fronts, with the aim of the macro terms the increase in production to 2,200 DMDT....

The thesis analyzes the child participation of the Advisory Councils for Boys, Girls and Adolescents (CCONNA) implemented by the local governments of the province of Ica during the period 2019-2020. This research starts by knowing, describing, and analyzing the level of participation, which occurs through the CCONNA, to then identify the factors that facilitate or limit the implementation of this public policy at the provincial and district level, and know its impact on the well-being of children and adolescents. The research is of a qualitative type, where information gathering techniques were applied, such as in-depth interviews to members and former members of the CCONNA, officials and/or public servants of local governments and technical companions of local governments, and the documentary review and analysis of council regulations, files and reports from governmental and non-governmental entities on the subject in question. The main findings and results of the study show that there is progress in the implementation of the Consultative Councils through institutionalization in local governments, however, there is evidence of weakness regarding the level of participation that is exercised in these spaces, due to the fact that The influence and impact of the participation of children and adolescents in public policies, programs and local projects approved for this sector are not visible. Among the factors that facilitated progress in the implementation of the CCONNA were technical support for local governments and the political will of authorities and officials. Regarding the management limitations, it is related to the process of forming the CCONNA, the specialization of the technical assistants, the allocation of resources, access to information that guides the implementation of public policy and to or with the school and families. The analysis carried out allows critical reflection regarding the management of public policy from the actors involved. The recommendations are aimed at carrying out an adequate implementation of child participation mechanisms aimed at generating social value....

The goal of the following research was to identify the effects caused by a conservation and sustainable use of natural resources initiative in a natural protected area (NPA) and in the population settled inside. For this purpose, we analyzed the project developed by the nonprofit environmental organization Conservation International Alto Mayo Protected Forest Conservation Initiative (AMCI) located between the provinces of Rioja and Moyobamba in the Region of San Martin. The study is an intermediate diagnosis of qualitative nature that allowed us to obtain information about the effects that the AMCI had on its beneficiaries and the NPA conservation through in-depth interviews to the project main stakeholders. The sample was significative, and the chosen technique was the convenience sampling, a non-probability sampling technique where subjects were selected because of their convenient accessibility. To analyze the perception of the 3 main stakeholders of the project, 18 in-depth interviews were conducted to the beneficiaries, the NPA and CI staff. The research allowed us to know that among the main effects of the ICAM, it stands out that the beneficiary population has been empowered in the use of sustainable agricultural practices through the training workshops given, the technical assistance and the use of demonstration plots developed by the project, which has meant a greater perception of wellbeing and contribution to the care of the environment, given that they no longer cut down the forest, and on the contrary use smaller areas of crop and reforest the degraded areas....

The purpose of this work is to offer viable solutions to the challenge faced by the company: "Low sales participation in open pit mining". In this context, the research undertaken is focused on proposing a plan to address this problem, with the objective of increasing sales participation in the open-pit mining sector. To achieve this, it was agreed to collaborate with the company to gain access to relevant information, which allowed us to identify the underlying causes of the low participation. First, a comprehensive analysis of current commercial management in the open-pit mining sector was conducted, followed by an assessment of opportunities for improvement. These opportunities were prioritized based on their feasibility and the impact they could have once implemented. To gain a thorough understanding of each prioritized opportunity, we worked closely with FAMESA's commercial executives and conducted a survey of the leaders of several open pit mines that had participated in previous tenders for the supply of explosives and initiation systems. A detailed analysis of the causes that were generating problems was started, based on the results obtained from the data provided by the survey and the comments made by the subjects of the investigation, achieving an identification of the fundamental causes, which were then analyzed by means of a root cause analysis, using the Ishikawa diagram as a tool. Subsequently, through the participation of the respondents, an action plan was designed and implemented where specific commitments were made. In addition, a follow-up program was established to evaluate the positive impact of these implementations in the future....

Peru is a country with large natural resource reserves, as it is the case of phosphates and guano, which are produced in different geographical contexts, since phosphates are extracted from mines in the north of the country; while guano is extracted from a set of 22 islands and 11 points, mainly located in the Ica region. The purpose of this research was to know the current situation of the management of phosphates and guano in Peru, as well as to describe its contribution to national economy during the 2010 – 2019 period, to achieve this, indicators were defined that support each study variable. A descriptive study was designed, with a focus quali-quantitative, for which statistics published by different entities such as the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, Osinergmin, and the Superintendence of Tax Administration, among others; which were combined with information collected through in-depth interviews with experts in the management of these resources, conducted with a guide of semi-structured questions. The data was analyzed by combining the statistical series with the qualitative information, among the most relevant results it is worth highlighting that the management of phosphates is in charge of the MINEM, which controls the concessions granted to private companies; while the management of guano is done by Agro Rural, an entity of the Minagri. In both cases, the maximum possible is extracted, which is limited in the case of phosphate by investment and in the case of guano by the population of guano birds and the protection of the ecosystem. The phosphates are almost entirely destined for export, while the guano is distributed to five segments, which includes the foreign market, but giving priority to the small Peruvian farmer. The direct impact of phosphate on the national economy is limited to income tax, the right of force and the mining canon; while the activity related to guano extraction is not subject to tax payment....

This investigation work is oriented to propose improvements in Enel's sustainable procurement model and to develop a methodology to determine the weighting of the sustainability component in bidding tenders, which currently has been developed based on subjective criteria. This improvement consists of developing the criteria to determine the weighting of the sustainability component, factor K, which must be aligned to the fulfillment of a Sustainable Development Goal. This will lead to a better alignment of procurement processes to sustainability. To the extent that this model is implemented, proposals with a greater impact on sustainability will be promptly selected in future tenders. This model seeks to improve the performance of suppliers' competencies in terms of sustainability, encouraging suppliers to maintain the sustainability focus over time, which allows the development of a greater number of sustainable suppliers. The benefits for Enel are that in the future they will work with suppliers with a high level of maturity in sustainability management, which will mitigate risks related to bad supplier practices that generate negative environmental or social impacts, improve or maintain Enel's brand reputation and generate future operational savings due to good practices, such as: circular economy, recycling, reuse and/or reduction, implemented by suppliers and that lead them to reduce prices for Enel. This work compares the values obtained during the development of simulations of supplier tenders and calculations with different levels of investment, to determine the most appropriate according to the probabilities of choice of the proposals. Finally, recommendations are provided based on the result of the consultancy....
