This longitudinal study aims to identify if coaching impacts self-efficacy and wellbeing. To do this, the difference between both scoring scales is analyzed over a six-month period. Twenty-two Latin American participants answered the General Self Efficacy Scale elaborated by Schwarzer & Jerusalem (1995) and the Flourishing Scale by Diener (2010). We found a significative relation between both scales, and a medium size effect regarding self-efficacy and wellbeing before and after the coaching intervention. A complementary qualitative analysis categorized some elements that might be impacting the effect such as the working alliance with the coach. Implications of this result point indicate the need to identify the coaching method, number of sessions, characteristics of the client and research design. We suggest more longitudinal studies in a real-world setting, addition of a control group, determining the effect size, and exploring underlying coaching mechanisms....

Based on previous research conducted in a rural community of the Jequetepeque valley (Arellano, 2012; Ferrándiz, 2011; La Barrera et. al., 2012), the present study focused on the analysis of the relationship between sense of community and psychological and social well-being. On the other hand, this study describes and analyzes the contents on the collective memory and its links with the identity processes. A mix design was used; the quantitative phase (N=82) revealed multiple correlations amongst variables of Sense of Community, Psychological and Social Well-being and their dimensions. Meanwhile, the qualitative phase – where six individual and two participatory interviews were conducted -, revealed three main issues: (i) the ties amongst people in the community and the difficulties on their acquaintance, (ii) the relationship between the community and the authorities throughout their history and its effects on their present, and (iii) the distrust among community members and low involvement in community activities linked to representations of certain events in their history and the inhabitants’ perspective about the future of the community....

The present study aims to identify and analyze the subjective, social, and structural conditions that explain the decision of eight adult women, from a rural town on the south coast of Peru, to stay or end their violent couple's relationship; as well as to describe and analyze their experience throughout these decisions. The research had a qualitative approach and the method used was the case study. The information gathering tools were participant observation, in-depth semi-structured interview, and document review. It was found that the subjective, social, and structural conditions mainly place women in a vulnerable situation, of submission and resignation. Nonetheless, simultaneously, there are dimensions that favor their capacity for criticism and action. Hence, two trajectories are identified: (a) the main one is to remain in the relationship not passively, but questioning / resisting, (b) and only in one case, the trajectory of ending the relationship. Women experience both trajectories in permanent tension, since the experience puts into question the mandates, referents, ideals and plans of the family, the couple, and above all the constitution of woman as a subject. The experience produces fear, uncertainty, guilt, shame, but also relief, enjoyment, hope, and wellbeing. Their subjectivities are in constant movement with different rhythms, directions, and speeds which is a rather challenging task for these women. These findings allow us to outline some ideas to promote women to continue questioning, transforming and / or rejecting / ending violent couple's relationships....

This study aims to approach the perception of the community work of members of a mental health team. We sought to understand what it means for them to work in mental health in the community, to explore the situation in which the teams work and getting feedback on the work they have done already. The method was qualitative and the gathering of information was from a semi-structured interview, based on a guide developed by the researcher after a theoretical revision of the subject. The research was conducted with a group of 10 mental health professionals, 7 women and 3 men whose work experience ranged from 4 to 33 years. Content analysis was performed and the information was categorized from the specific objectives and the research question. Among the results, it was found that they consider that their work involves collective interventions, is consistent with reality and generates mixed feelings. The work situation involves difficulties from inadequate resources, little institutional support, bureaucracy and separation of professions and their work was facilitated by different perspectives, being single and the interaction with the community. They have a positive opinion about their performance and consider that they have had many achievements but still face challenges in the future. Then, participants perceived that their work is collective, coherent and generates mixed feelings, there are difficulties mainly institutional but also aspects that facilitate their work, they think they have had significant achievements but there are still challenges ahead....
