T ome, redibujar para reivindicar la gráfica en el Trome: análisis crítico del discurso patriarcal y pedagogías de la crueldad

Abstract

Cada vez más, vivimos rodeades de imágenes, textos y colores que contienen la información en la que construimos nuestra visión de realidad. El diario El Trome, se vale de estos recursos y construye archivos “objetivos” que están mas bien, sesgados por intereses estructurales. Pese a que la violencia contra la mujer aparece en portadas y páginas del Trome, mi interés se enfoca en el modo en que se construye este contenido. El foco de esta tesis es una selección de archivo del Trome entre el 2018-2021. Este interés se origina a causa de la cantidad de casos de violencia hace niñas y mujeres ocurridos en Perú durante el Covid 19 (2021). Con la metodología Practice as Researh (PaR), combino el re-dibujo y resignifico el color amarillo llamado “amarillista”, con referentes teóricos y artísticos, creando una herramienta de análisis e investigación que reconfigura los archivos y la gráfica del Trome desde mi subjetividad justiciera. De este modo la investigación revela que el lugar de las mujeres en el Trome, se construye mediante la narrativa hegemónica sostenida por el patriarcado capitalista, donde la narrativa del Trome toma la gráfica de forma simbólica y explícita; para generar contenidos que circulan cíclicamente entre el espacio público y privado mediante su dispositivo en papel. Se revelan también que su mensaje moldea estereotipos de género; cuyo impacto se manifiesta en diferentes niveles de violencia, donde el feminicidio es la cúspide de un sistema social opresor. El objetivo de esta tesis es demostrar que se puede generar conocimiento desde la práctica artística, que cuestione la oficialidad de las imágenes y genere archivos contra-hegemónicos como resultado de una resistencia gráfica.

Increasingly, we live surrounded by images, texts, and colors that contain the information through which we construct our vision of reality. The newspaper El Trome makes use of these resources and builds “objective” archives that are in fact shaped by structural interests. Although violence against women appears on the covers and pages of El Trome, my interest focuses on how this content is constructed. The focus of this thesis is a selection of El Trome’s archive between 2018 and 2021. This interest arises from the number of cases of violence against girls and women that occurred in Peru during COVID-19 (2021). Through the Practice as Research (PaR) methodology, I combine redrawing and the re-signification of the color yellow, commonly associated with sensationalism (“yellow journalism”), with theoretical and artistic references, creating a tool for analysis and research that reconfigures El Trome’s archives and graphic language from my justice driven subjectivity. In this way, the research reveals that the place of women in El Trome is constructed through a hegemonic narrative sustained by capitalist patriarchy, where the newspaper deploys graphic language both symbolically and explicitly to generate content that circulates cyclically between public and private spaces through its paper based device. It also reveals that its message shapes gender stereotypes, whose impact manifests across different levels of violence, where femicide represents the visible apex of an oppressive social system. The objective of this thesis is to demonstrate that knowledge can be generated from artistic practice in ways that question the official status of images and produce counter-hegemonic archives as a result of graphic resistance.
