This thesis addresses the topic of teachers' perceptions of effective Spanish language learning and their pedagogical practices at the primary level in an educational institution in Lima. The general research objective is to analyze teachers' perceptions of their pedagogical practices aimed at effective Spanish language learning at the primary level in a private educational institution in Lima. The specific objectives are as follows: a) to identify teachers' perceptions of the development of communicative competence at the primary level; and b) to describe how teachers perceive their own pedagogical practices in relation to promoting effective Spanish language learning. This thesis follows a descriptive qualitative research methodology, and therefore a semi-structured interview was applied with two informants, in this case, fourth-grade primary school teachers. The research results conclude that teachers perceive effective Spanish language learning as an integral, functional, and meaningful process that allows students to thrive in their environment. Furthermore, the teachers believe that the effectiveness of pedagogical practices can be reflected in the learning outcomes achieved by their students. This thesis contributes to the field of language didactics by deepening the understanding of how teachers conceive of effective Spanish language learning. It also enriches the communicative approach framework by demonstrating its interpretation and application in real-world contexts, promoting the comprehensive development of linguistic skills.
