dc.description.abstractLos países constantemente tratan de medir el progreso social de sus naciones, no obstante, la metodología e indicadores utilizados hasta hace una década se basaban principalmente en variables económicas. En 2012, se fundó Social Progress Imperative, que desarrolló una nueva metodología que permite medir el progreso de un país desde una perspectiva social y sustentable. En ese sentido, el Índice de Progreso Social (IPS) mide y analiza el progreso social en base a tres dimensiones: necesidades básicas, fundamentos de bienestar y oportunidades. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo principal calcular el Índice de Progreso Social (IPS) de la Provincia de Castilla de la Región Arequipa para el año 2018. La metodología utilizada se basó en la desarrollada por Social Progres Imperative. Los resultados de la investigación señalan que el IPS de la Provincia de Castilla para el año 2018 se ubica con una calificación de medio bajo con un puntaje de 61.23 puntos. Este resultado es producto de las puntuaciones de las dimensiones: (a) necesidades básicas, 64.97 puntos; (b) fundamentos de bienestar, 59.83 puntos; y (c) oportunidades, 58.90 puntos, que también se sitúan en un nivel medio bajo. En líneas generales, estos resultados señalan que existen brechas que deben cubrirse, para que los pobladores de la Provincia de Castilla mantengan y mejoren la calidad vidaes_ES
dc.description.abstractCountries are constantly trying to measure their nation’s social progress; however, methodology and indicators used until a decade ago were mainly based on economic variables. In 2012, the Social Progress Imperative organization was founded, which developed a new methodology that would allow measuring a country’s social progress from a social and sustainable perspective. In that sense, the Social Progress Index (SPI) takes care of measuring and analyzing social progress based on three dimensions: basic needs, wellbeing fundamentals, and opportunities. The main goal of this investigation is to calculate the Social Progress Index (SPI) in Castilla province for year 2018. The methodology used was based on the one developed by Social Progress Imperative. The results of the investigation indicate that the Social Progress Index on Castilla Province obtained a 61.23 punctuation, which means that the social progress level is of middle low. This punctuation was based on the three dimensions punctuation: (a) basic needs with a punctuation of 64.97; (b) wellbeing fundamentals with a punctuation of 59.83; and (c) opportunities with a punctuation of 58.90, which means that the level is middle low. In general, these results show that there are gaps that must be covered in order for Castilla Province population to have a decent quality of lifees_ES
